Crime Prevention Stall – Ilford Town Hall (Christmas Light Switch-On Event)

On Saturday the 22nd of November 2025, Ilford Town Ward officers held a Crime prevention stall outside Ilford Town Hall during the annual Christmas Light's Switch-On event. With a large number of residents, families, and visitors attending, this provided an excellent opportunity to engage with the community and offer reassurance at one of the busiest local celebrations of the year.

Throughout the day, we engaged with a wide range of people, including parents, young people, elderly residents, and local businesses. The atmosphere was very positive, and members of the public were keen to speak with us about community safety, crime prevention, and general concerns around Ilford Town Centre.

Officers also throughout the event carried out hi-visibility patrols within the town centre as part of reassurance for public safety and a visible presence 

Many residents expressed appreciation for the visible police presence and the opportunity to receive practical advice in an approachable setting. Several conversations also involved wider community concerns, including antisocial behaviour, shoplifting, and safety around Ilford Train Station and the Town Centre. These issues were noted for follow-up where appropriate.

Attendees were also encouraged to sign up to MET ENGAGE to stay updated on ward activities, crime prevention messages, and future community events. A number of people registered on the day, strengthening our links with the local community.

Overall, the stall was a highly successful engagement event. The positive interaction, supportive feedback, and high level of interest show how valuable these opportunities are in building trust, increasing public confidence, and promoting safety across Ilford, especially during busy seasonal periods.
